Fiber Friday’s

Come on in to create any fiber art you’d like! This is a club like environment where you can come and use our space to create your project while we help each other as needed! If you are wanting to learn a fiber craft we might have a facilitator that can help but it’s not always guaranteed.

Fiber arts consist of sewing, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting.

We create quilts to donate to Bell County Child Welfare Board’s Rainbow Room for foster children so this is the perfect opportunity to create one!

We also accept any of your creations for us to sell for donations! Donations help us keep the lights on 💡

Therapeutic Art Journaling at the Vet Center

Creativity can be a powerful pathway to healing,
connection, and self-discovery!

Killeen Creators is proud to partner with the HH/Killeen Vet Center to offer Therapeutic Art Journaling on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, from 1-3 PM.

Through painting, collage, writing, and other creative techniques, participants explore emotions, process experiences, build resilience, and connect with others in a welcoming, trauma-informed environment.

Hands holding an art journal page painted with trees, a house, and a window design. Art journal page reading LOVE, PEACE, FAITH beside a small drawing of a house. Layered art journal page with paint, stenciled shapes, and a small affirmation card.

No artistic experience is necessary. It’s about expression, not perfection!

We’re grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to create space for veterans to explore, connect, and grow through art.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

What Should We Do in Our Gardens in November?

Raised garden beds and the Killeen Creators garden sign with the greenhouse behind. Vegetable beds and paths in the Killeen Creators community garden under a clear sky.

Now that we are in the middle of Fall we want to continue maintaining our gardens and think about any winter crops!

If you plan to have strawberries inside your garden this is your last chance to plant them! By mid-November you should be planting your bulbs of garlic and onions.

Inside of our gardens we want to focus on controlling any pests that might harm our plants. Some to look out for is aphids on the brassica family and squash bugs on any remaining squash plants inside the garden.

Happy Gardening!

AMERICORPS CORNER

Meet Our Returning AmeriCorps Members!

Jesse Baez

Hi Creators, I've been an AmeriCorps Service Member for two and a half years now! I've been serving with Killeen Creators to help their community gardens grow and flourish. When I'm not in the gardens you may catch me in our studio helping lead and/or assisting with classes while ensuring our environment remains a safe space. If you ever find yourself wanting to play a challenging match of chess I am the person for it!

Good day to all! I am 10th street garden lead, I overlook seedlings, and vermiculture (worms). I am a newsletter lead and I teach crochet here at Killeen Creators. This is my second AmeriCorps term and I am passionate about serving the community!

Fun Fact: I'm a jack of all trades, master of none. I enjoy learning new things!
